The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has introduced two additional witnesses in the ongoing trial of former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika and three others over alleged ₦2 billion fraud.
Appearing before the court on June 26, 2025, the tenth witness, a senior official from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), presented employment records for the third defendant, Hamma Jalal Sule. He testified that Sule was employed as a Regulatory Officer in 2023 and previously worked with the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Agency.
Under cross-examination, the witness admitted he had left his HR role before some documents were submitted and had no personal knowledge of any misconduct by the defendant.
The eleventh witness, from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), confirmed that the second defendant, Fatima Hadi Sirika, remains a staff member with a clean employment record and had been promoted in 2023. He clarified that NNPCL, now a private entity, no longer follows certain public service protocols.
Both witnesses confirmed no known disciplinary actions or illegal conduct involving the defendants. The case was adjourned to June 30, 2025, for further hearing.
