Senator Ede Dafinone has commissioned three state-of-the-art modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres in Delta Central Senatorial District as part of his efforts to enhance digitization in our schools and in a bold step towards modernizing education and equipping students for the digital age.
Nevertheless, the newly renovated centres are located at Ogor Technical College in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Urhobo College and Orhuwhorun High School in Udu Local Government Area.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Monday, marks a significant milestone in Senator Dafinone’s ongoing commitment to leveraging technology as a tool for educational advancement.
Speaking during the event, the senator emphasized that access to digital tools and skills is no longer a luxury but a necessity in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world.
Senator Dafinone stated that the initiative is part of his broader vision to ensure that students in Delta Central are not left behind in the global digital transformation. He noted that the centres are equipped with modern computer systems, internet facilities, and learning software to provide students with hands-on experience in digital literacy.
"This milestone underscores our unwavering commitment to advancing education through technology," he said. "By equipping students with modern tools and resources, we are empowering them to excel and compete in today’s dynamic digital economy."
Popularly referred to as the "performing super senator" by his constituents, Dafinone is widely known for his open-door policy and emphasis on teamwork. He reiterated that his efforts are aimed at closing the gap between potential and opportunity, especially for the youth in his senatorial district.
"Together, we will continue to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity," he said. "Together, we will continue to empower the next generation."
He further stressed the importance of preparing students for the evolving demands of the 21st-century workforce. "Today, technology has taken over, and our children will not be left out. We will continue to play our part and equip them with relevant technological skills," he added.
The commissioning of these ICT centres is expected to significantly enhance the learning experience of students and open new doors of opportunity in fields such as coding, data analysis, and digital communication. The initiative is a major step in reshaping the educational landscape of Delta Central and ensuring its youth are future-ready.
