The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formed a reconciliation committee to address grievances stemming from the recent party primaries. This announcement was made in a statement on Tuesday by the party’s spokesperson, Mogaji Oladejo.
Oladejo emphasized that this initiative is part of the APC’s broader strategy to heal internal rifts and foster unity among its members. He mentioned that the party aims to resolve all disputes related to the primary elections within two weeks, strengthening its position ahead of the upcoming polls.
The primaries, which determined the APC candidates for local council positions throughout the state, sparked significant protests and led to numerous petitions being submitted to the party’s appeal committee. Discontented aspirants and their supporters expressed various concerns regarding the process.
“The APC has decided to activate its internal conflict resolution and reconciliation mechanisms after reviewing the appeal reports, ensuring we enter the elections as a united front,” the statement noted.
The reconciliation committee has been organized across senatorial districts.
In Lagos East, Dr. Lateef Ibirogba will chair the committee, with Saheed Afonja, Sumbo Onitiri, and Sade Bakare as members.
Chief (Mrs) Sarah Sosan, the former Deputy Governor, will lead the Lagos Central team, accompanied by Funso Ologunde, Adedoyin Banjo, and Adigun Olalekan.
Lagos West is divided into two zones: Lagos West 1 will be led by Otunba Bode Oyedele, with Chief Jide Damazio, Alhaji Aleshinloye, and Comfort Olalere as members. Meanwhile, Lagos West 2 will be chaired by Alhaji Mutiu Are, supported by Hon. Jumoke Okoya, Otunba Kehinde Adeniyi, and Adeola Rashidat.
