The Nigeria Police Force has announced a string of major security breakthroughs across several state commands, including the rescue of a kidnapped child, the dismantling of a fake kidnapping ring, and the arrest of a fraud syndicate with a stash of counterfeit foreign currency.
In Katsina State, officers of the Command cracked a disturbing case involving the staged abduction of two minors. According to the complaint filed on February 20, 2025, by one Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters, his 14-year-old daughter and her 4-year-old sister had gone missing. Four months later, the older girl resurfaced, and during interrogation, confessed to orchestrating the kidnapping in collaboration with three others aged 25, 19, and 16. All suspects have since been arrested, and the 4-year-old victim was safely rescued, unharmed.
Meanwhile, in Nasarawa State, a suspected arms trafficking operation was foiled along the Giza–Kadarko Road in Keana Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives intercepted an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle. The rider, suspected of being an arms dealer, abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a nearby bush. A search of the abandoned vehicle led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 45 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition. A manhunt is currently underway for the fleeing suspect.
In another major operation, a joint security team comprising Nigeria Police officers and other law enforcement agencies carried out a raid on June 13, 2025, in Kankare and Zurkuda villages in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The operation resulted in the arrest of seven suspected members of a fraud syndicate. Recovered exhibits included $46,100 in counterfeit U.S. currency, four POS machines, 13 Android smartphones, 29 keypad phones, six power banks, two vehicle plate numbers, and several documents linked to cyber and electronic fraud.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement issued from Force Headquarters in Abuja on June 21, 2025, said the operations reflect the Nigeria Police Force's unwavering commitment to combating crime through intelligence-driven policing, rapid response strategies, and community collaboration.
He further quoted the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, as urging members of the public to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of police efforts to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.
