A 45-year-old electrician has died after being electrocuted while attempting to reconnect electricity cables to a power pole in Shasha, Lagos State, the Police Command confirmed.
The incident occurred on August 10 at approximately 11:30 a.m., according to a statement released on Sunday by the Command’s Spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.
CSP Hundeyin explained that the victim was rescued and immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
“The electrician lost his life while reconnecting electricity cables to an electric pole at Shasha,” CSP Hundeyin said. “Police detectives visited the scene to secure evidence and carry out a thorough investigation.”
Authorities confirmed that inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the electrocution are ongoing.
The Police Command stressed the vital importance of following safety procedures when working with electrical installations, advising both technicians and the general public to exercise extreme caution to prevent similar incidents in the future.
