Asaba, December 29, 2025 – Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, has extended warm felicitations to His Royal Majesty, Obi Henry Ezeagwukpo Jegbefume I, the revered Obi of Akumazi Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area, as he marks his 60th birthday anniversary.
In a heartfelt congratulatory message, Aniagwu hailed the monarch as an embodiment of unity, peace, and cultural heritage, whose enlightened leadership has profoundly fostered harmony, development, and preservation of traditions in Akumazi Kingdom.
“On behalf of my family and the Management and Staff of Delta State Ministry of Works (Rural and Riverine Roads) and Public Information, I celebrate His Royal Majesty, Obi Henry Ezeagwukpo Jegbefume I, as he marks his 60th birthday. Long live the King of Akumazi Kingdom,” Aniagwu declared, praying for the royal father's continued good health, divine wisdom, strength, and a prolonged reign that brings further progress and prosperity to his subjects.
The commissioner commended Jegbefume I's exemplary qualities of wisdom, integrity, and unwavering commitment to community stability, noting that these virtues have earned the monarch immense respect both within Akumazi and across Delta State.
Obi Henry Ezeagwukpo Jegbefume I ascended the throne in December 2018 following the passing of his predecessor, HRM Stephen Chukwuyemeze Osagie III, who reigned for over six decades. A retired banker with a background in Public Administration from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, the monarch has since focused on promoting peace, cultural preservation, and community development in Akumazi, a kingdom comprising several quarters including Umuocha (the headquarters), Ekuoma, Owerre-Olubor, and Ilabor.
Under his reign, Akumazi has witnessed initiatives aimed at youth empowerment, cultural revival, and infrastructure support, aligning with broader efforts in Ika nation to uphold traditions while embracing modernity. The kingdom, known for its rich history tracing influences from Benin and Igbo cultures, continues to thrive as a beacon of harmony in Delta North senatorial district.
Aniagwu, himself a proud son of Akumazi-Umuocha, has long been associated with initiatives supporting traditional institutions. As a seasoned media professional and public servant, he previously served as Chief Press Secretary and Commissioner for Information under former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa before his current dual portfolio under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. His felicitations reflect the deep ties between the state government and traditional rulers in advancing the MORE Agenda—focusing on meaningful development, opportunity for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security.
The diamond jubilee celebrations have drawn tributes from various quarters, underscoring Jegbefume I's role in conflict resolution, youth guidance, and cultural promotion. Events marking the milestone include community gatherings at the royal palace, emphasizing themes of gratitude, unity, and future aspirations for Akumazi Kingdom.
As Delta State continues to prioritize rural infrastructure and cultural heritage, voices like Aniagwu's highlight the symbiotic relationship between modern governance and traditional authority in fostering sustainable progress.
