The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Ejim-Emekah, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to deepened partnership with Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) to enhance security of critical oil and gas infrastructure across the Niger Delta and sustain the gradual increase in national crude oil output.
Major General Ejim-Emekah made the pledge on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Effurun Barracks in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, during the commissioning of newly reconstructed and furnished facilities for Sector 1 Headquarters, Joint Task Force South-South (Operation Delta Safe), and the 3 Battalion Headquarters—projects fully sponsored by TSSNL.
The upgraded facilities include 13 newly built offices at the 3 Battalion Headquarters and the remodelling of 22 offices at Sector 1. The GOC, who also serves as Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force South-South, Operation Delta Safe, described the intervention as a significant boost to operational effectiveness.
He commended TSSNL for its consistent support, noting that the collaboration with credible private-sector partners has greatly strengthened troops’ capacity to combat oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and other forms of economic sabotage in the region.
“Nigeria’s crude oil production has continued to witness improvement through sustained collaboration between the Nigerian Army, TSSNL, and other security partners,” the GOC stated. “Partnerships with credible private-sector operators such as Tantita have significantly strengthened the capacity of troops to combat oil theft, pipeline vandalism and other forms of economic sabotage in the Niger Delta.”
Major General Ejim-Emekah highlighted that improved security of critical national assets, particularly oil and gas infrastructure, remains a major driver of the recent rise in crude production. He praised TSSNL’s wide-reaching support, which extends beyond Delta State to Rivers and Bayelsa States.
“Tantita is doing a lot in support of 6 Division. They are not only active in Delta State, but also extending their interventions to Rivers and Bayelsa States,” he said. “Recently, without being compelled, they undertook another major project for us in Port Harcourt.”
Reflecting on his assumption of office on January 24, 2025, the GOC recalled his first visit to Warri, where he expressed dissatisfaction with the condition of some military facilities. “What I saw then was not befitting of an operational infantry battalion. Even company headquarters in some places were better. I told the Commanding Officer that if nothing else was done, the outlook of the headquarters must change,” he said.
The commissioning of the upgraded facilities marks a direct response to that earlier observation and underscores TSSNL’s ongoing commitment to supporting military operations in the Niger Delta.
The event was attended by senior military officers, representatives of TSSNL management, and other stakeholders. It reinforces the Nigerian Army’s strategy of working closely with private security outfits to protect oil infrastructure, curb economic sabotage, and support national revenue generation through improved crude production.
