The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has formally congratulated all newly elected Ward Executive Committee members, leaders, stakeholders, and supporters following the remarkably peaceful and hitch-free conduct of ward congresses held across the state’s 270 wards on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday, February 19, 2026, and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq, the party described the exercise as a resounding success and a clear demonstration of the growing unity, maturity, and shared commitment within the Delta APC family.
The statement read in part: “The All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State, heartily congratulates all our newly elected Ward Executive Committee members, leaders, stakeholders and supporters across the 270 wards in the state for the peaceful, orderly, and hugely successful conduct of the ward congresses.”
The APC highlighted that the congresses were conducted “across the length and breadth of Delta State” without the usual rancour, acrimony, bitterness, or violence that have historically marred similar political exercises. The party attributed this laudable outcome to the deliberate cultivation of unity and the collective resolve to prioritize the overall progress and electoral viability of the party.
A major factor credited for the success was the stakeholders’ meeting held on January 23, 2026, where critical leaders of the party unanimously agreed to adopt consensus arrangements in line with the APC constitution and guidelines. This decision, the statement noted, fostered inclusivity, harmony, and collective ownership of the emerging structures from the ward to the state level.
“That decision has once again proven to be wise, timely and in the best interest of our party,” the APC affirmed.
The party also extended special commendation to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State, whose alignment with the All Progressives Congress has significantly strengthened internal cohesion. Since formally joining and aligning with the APC, Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated “uncommon commitment to cohesion and reconciliation,” successfully navigating internal complexities and achieving what the party described as a remarkable 95 percent integration and fusion of various interests within the Delta APC family in record time.
“The peaceful and widely accepted outcome of the ward congresses stands as a clear vindication of the deliberate steps taken by his leadership in conjunction with other relevant stakeholders of like minds in the party to build consensus and promote unity over needless divisive antics,” the statement declared.
The APC charged the newly elected ward executives to view their mandate as an opportunity to build “a brand new, formidable APC structure at the ward level anchored on transparency, unity, fairness and inclusivity with a pragmatic approach to the management of party administration.”
Emphasizing the foundational role of the wards, the party urged the executives to serve as models of discipline, accountability, and grassroots engagement. “As the foundation of our party’s strength, the wards must serve as models of discipline, accountability and grassroots engagement. We urge you to carry every member along, foster reconciliation where necessary and promote open communication that will further consolidate our gains and guarantee future electoral successes for the party,” the statement advised.
The APC also commended ordinary members for their discipline, patience, and steadfast belief in the party’s leadership. “Delta State APC has once again demonstrated that it is united, focused and prepared to continue providing purposeful leadership for the people of Delta State,” it affirmed.
Looking ahead, the party expressed confidence that the upcoming stages of the congresses—local government, state, and national—would be equally successful, urging all members to sustain the spirit of cooperation and solidarity.
“As we move forward to the next stages of the party’s congresses, which no doubt will be equally successful, we urge all members to sustain this spirit of cooperation and solidarity as together we build a stronger, more formidable APC in Delta State,” the statement concluded.
The release ended with the party’s signature slogan: “APC: Renewed Hope for M.O.R.E Agenda.”
The successful ward congresses represent a significant milestone in the APC’s restructuring and revalidation efforts in Delta State. With Governor Oborevwori’s full alignment with the party and the demonstrated unity at the grassroots level, political observers view the outcome as a strong foundation for the APC’s ambitions in the state ahead of future elections.
The peaceful process also stands in contrast to past internal wranglings in the party and signals a maturing political culture focused on consensus, inclusivity, and collective victory rather than factionalism.
