ASABA, Delta State — The Urhobo Christian Ministers Association International has publicly commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his exemplary leadership, describing his administration as one that has fostered peace, promoted inclusive governance, and driven significant infrastructure development across the state.
The commendation came on Wednesday when a delegation from the association, led by its President and General Overseer of God’s Will Mission Inc., Archbishop Solomon Gbakara, paid a courtesy visit to Government House, Asaba, to pray for the Governor and his administration.
Speaking during the visit, Archbishop Gbakara expressed deep pride in Oborevwori’s style of leadership, which he said had ensured peaceful coexistence and equitable progress in every part of Delta State.
“We are grateful to Almighty God for the kind of leadership you have brought to bear on Delta State,” the cleric stated. “Since you assumed office, there has been no crisis between the executive, the legislature, or any other arm of government. This stability is a clear testimony to your wisdom, intelligence, and ability to manage the affairs of the state effectively.”
He highlighted the Governor’s commitment to carrying everyone along, irrespective of political, ethnic, or religious affiliations, describing this approach as the foundation of the prevailing peace in the state.
Archbishop Gbakara also showered praise on the administration’s massive infrastructure drive, pointing to the construction and rehabilitation of roads, schools, hospitals, and strategic flyovers as evidence of profound and far-reaching impact.
“The spread of these projects is visible across the length and breadth of Delta State,” he noted. “This reflects your administration’s genuine commitment to balanced and equitable development for all our people.”
The cleric further applauded the Governor’s cordial and productive relationship with the Federal Government, particularly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He credited this strong collaboration for unlocking additional support and opportunities that have bolstered peace and development in Delta State.
Archbishop Gbakara assured Governor Oborevwori of the association’s continued prayers and unwavering support, expressing full confidence in his ability to sustain and expand the gains already recorded.
“We will keep praying for you,” he said. “We urge you to remain focused, proactive, and ever ready to seize every opportunity to do even more for the good people of Delta State.”
In his response, Governor Oborevwori expressed sincere appreciation to the Urhobo Christian Ministers Association for the visit, their heartfelt prayers, and their consistent support.
He thanked the delegation for recognizing the strides made by his administration and reiterated his commitment to working tirelessly for the peace, unity, and overall progress of the state.
“Your prayers and encouragement mean a lot to me and my team,” the Governor said. “We will continue to prioritize the welfare of our people, promote inclusive governance, maintain peace, and deliver impactful infrastructure projects that touch every community.”
The visit underscored the growing support and goodwill the Oborevwori administration enjoys from religious and community leaders across Delta State, particularly among Urhobo clerics who have emerged as vocal advocates for his leadership style.
Observers note that the Governor’s emphasis on harmony among the state’s diverse ethnic groups, combined with visible development projects, has helped strengthen interfaith and inter-ethnic relations in recent times.
The Urhobo Christian Ministers Association International comprises pastors, bishops, and general overseers from various Pentecostal, evangelical, and charismatic churches within the Urhobo nation, one of Delta State’s largest ethnic groups.
Their endorsement is seen as a significant morale boost for the administration as it enters its second year in office, with expectations high for continued delivery on campaign promises.
Governor Oborevwori has repeatedly stated that his MORE Agenda—Meaningful Development, Opportunities, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Security—remains the guiding framework for his policies and projects.
The prayer session and commendation from the Urhobo Christian Ministers Association are expected to further reinforce public confidence in the administration’s direction and vision for a peaceful, united, and prosperous Delta State.
