Asaba, Delta State – March 7, 2026
Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Darlington Ijeh, has publicly declared his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing both leaders as visionary reformers whose policies are laying a solid foundation for national recovery and state-level progress.
Speaking to journalists in Asaba on Friday, Dr. Ijeh said the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu represents a bold, pragmatic roadmap that is already yielding early results in economic stabilisation, infrastructure renewal, improved local governance and growing investor confidence. He noted that the administration’s deliberate reforms in fiscal policy, foreign exchange unification, security architecture and social investment programmes are beginning to reposition Nigeria for long-term growth and global competitiveness.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a slogan; it is a comprehensive and actionable blueprint for national renewal,” the commissioner stated. “We are seeing deliberate efforts to stabilise the economy, expand infrastructure, strengthen institutions and restore investor confidence. For these reforms to fully materialise and deliver lasting benefits to Nigerians, we must give President Tinubu the continued support he needs to finish the job.”
Dr. Ijeh called on Nigerians—particularly members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC)—to actively participate in the democratic process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and completing the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise being conducted by the party across the country.
“The APC e-registration exercise is a critical step toward deepening grassroots participation, strengthening party structures and ensuring that every committed Nigerian can play a role in shaping our future,” he said. “I urge all eligible citizens to register and obtain their PVCs so they can exercise their civic right in the 2027 elections.”
Turning to Delta State, the commissioner commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as focused, people-centred and inclusive leadership anchored on the MORE Agenda—Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
“Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated a rare combination of empathy, accessibility and deep understanding of the needs of ordinary citizens,” Dr. Ijeh said. “His administration has maintained peace across communities, accelerated infrastructure development, empowered youths and women, improved healthcare delivery, supported education and promoted agriculture as the backbone of our economy. These are clear signs of leadership that is rooted in the people and committed to inclusive growth.”
He highlighted the governor’s grassroots orientation and accessibility, noting that Oborevwori’s frequent town hall meetings, direct engagement with communities and prompt response to citizens’ concerns have built trust and confidence across the state.
Dr. Ijeh expressed strong confidence in the continuity of purposeful leadership at both the federal and state levels, predicting that the joint ticket of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori in 2027 remains achievable and winnable with sustained public support and massive voter turnout.
“Our support for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori is not based on sentiment but on verifiable performance and the promise of more to come,” he added. “We will continue to mobilise support, promote peaceful campaigns and ensure that the voice of the people is heard loud and clear in 2027.”
The commissioner’s declaration comes at a time when political realignments and early mobilisation efforts are intensifying across Delta State and Nigeria. With the APC currently controlling the Delta State Government and seeking to consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 polls, Dr. Ijeh’s endorsement is seen as a significant boost to the party’s campaign narrative in the South-South geopolitical zone.
The statement also aligns with the APC’s ongoing nationwide push for electronic membership registration and voter education, aimed at expanding the party’s base and ensuring high turnout in future elections.
As the countdown to the 2027 general elections continues, political analysts expect more high-profile endorsements and grassroots mobilisation drives to shape the emerging contest in Delta State and at the national level.
