Manchester City secured the Carabao Cup title after defeating Arsenal 2-0 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
The match was decided by a second-half double from 21-year-old left-back Nico O’Reilly, who scored two crucial headers in the space of five minutes to seal the victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.
O’Reilly’s first goal came after an error by Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, while his second was a brilliantly executed header following intricate play from City’s attack.
The win marks Manchester City’s ninth League Cup triumph and adds to the growing legacy of coach Pep Guardiola, who has now won 19 major honours with the club. Guardiola also became the first manager in history to lift the Carabao Cup five times.
The defeat ended Arsenal’s hopes of securing a historic quadruple this season, leaving the Gunners without the League Cup as they continue their campaign in other competitions.
