Governor Siminalayi Fubara has extended warm felicitations to the people of Rivers State, calling on residents to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, reconciliation, and unity as Christians across the state and beyond celebrate Easter.
In a goodwill message to mark the occasion, the governor urged citizens to reflect on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, whose sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary, he noted, brought forgiveness and reconciliation to mankind.
Governor Fubara’s message was conveyed in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, who described Easter as a deeply significant and sacred season in the Christian faith.
According to the statement, the governor emphasised that Easter is a time for renewed commitment to the values of peace, unity, and love, urging residents of Rivers State to use the period for reflection and positive action.
“Easter represents a period when Christians are expected to promote peace, unity, and love in their communities. It is a time to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice and reconciliation as demonstrated by Jesus Christ,” the statement read.
Fubara further expressed hope that the Easter season would usher in renewed joy, hope, and spiritual upliftment for the people of Rivers State and Nigerians at large. He prayed for continued peace and progress in the state, stressing the importance of harmony among citizens irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
The governor also used the occasion to commend the Christian community for its resilience and steadfastness, particularly in the face of socio-economic challenges confronting the nation. He acknowledged the role of faith-based communities in promoting moral values and fostering social cohesion within society.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, Fubara assured residents that his government remains focused on delivering democratic dividends and improving the welfare of all citizens. He noted that his policies and programmes are aimed at ensuring sustainable development across key sectors of the state’s economy.
The governor called on the people to continue supporting his administration, stressing that meaningful development can only be achieved through collective effort and shared responsibility. He also urged residents to remain law-abiding and to contribute positively to the peace and stability of the state.
In addition, Fubara encouraged citizens to align with the broader national vision as outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He emphasised that collaboration between state and federal governments is essential for achieving lasting progress and national development.
“Progress can only be achieved through unity of purpose and collective commitment to nation-building,” the governor stated, urging Nigerians to remain optimistic about the country’s future.
As Christians celebrate Easter, the Rivers State government reaffirmed its dedication to fostering an environment of peace, unity, and development, while encouraging citizens to draw inspiration from the season’s message of hope and renewal.
