American rapper Kanye West is facing renewed global backlash following a series of concert cancellations, postponements, and reported international travel restrictions in the wake of the March 2026 release of his twelfth studio album, BULLY.
Despite successfully staging a sold-out “Homecoming” concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, where an estimated 70,000 fans were in attendance, West’s efforts to rebuild his international touring presence appear to have been significantly disrupted by ongoing controversy surrounding his past antisemitic remarks and recent online activity.
The backlash intensified after West shared a video clip on social media platform Instagram, which critics say appeared to echo antisemitic stereotypes. The reposted segment featured music executive Ray Daniels speaking on the TFU Podcast, where he praised West’s continued commercial appeal despite public criticism and industry resistance.
In the clip, Daniels suggested that opposition to West’s career stemmed from “the system,” referencing financial and entertainment institutions. He stated: “Everybody that tried to cancel him, all those guys that run Morgan Stanley, run this bank, totally don't want your money, their kids were in the stadium... They are a system that's against him.”
Observers and advocacy groups have raised concerns that references to a “system” controlled by specific financial institutions echo long-standing antisemitic tropes about Jewish influence in global banking and finance. The situation has drawn strong responses from French officials. Both Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez and Marseille Mayor Benoît Payan have publicly expressed opposition to West’s planned appearance, signalling political resistance to hosting the artist amid ongoing concerns over his public statements and conduct.
