Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has called on newly inaugurated executives of the Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie (OSU) Federal Constituency Political Forum, Uvwie Chapter, to immediately begin aggressive grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The senator made the call during the official inauguration ceremony of the Uvwie Local Government Chapter of the OSU Political Forum, held at Alegbo Primary School in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. The event attracted a large gathering of political stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, party faithful, and supporters from across the constituency.
Addressing the audience, Senator Dafinone expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would emerge victorious in the 2027 general elections, citing ongoing economic reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration as a clear demonstration of purposeful leadership and commitment to national recovery.
According to the lawmaker, President Tinubu inherited a fragile and struggling economy upon assuming office in 2023 but has since taken bold and decisive steps to reposition the country for long-term growth and stability. He pointed to the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of Nigeria’s exchange rate as two major reforms that have significantly curtailed systemic exploitation and improved transparency in the nation’s economic management.
Dafinone explained that while the reforms initially posed challenges, they were necessary decisions aimed at correcting long-standing structural imbalances in the economy. He noted that the removal of fuel subsidy eliminated opportunities for corruption and smuggling, while exchange rate unification helped stabilize the financial system and restore investor confidence.
He described President Tinubu as the “most prepared and qualified” leader Nigeria has elected in recent years, adding that his experience in governance and economic management positions him to steer the country toward sustainable development.
The senator therefore urged members of the newly inaugurated OSU Forum executives to begin immediate grassroots engagement across wards, communities, and local political structures to strengthen support for the President’s re-election bid in 2027.
On the state level, Senator Dafinone commended Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as impressive performance since assuming office. He noted that the governor’s administration has delivered visible infrastructure development, improved social services, and strengthened governance across Delta State.
According to him, Governor Oborevwori’s leadership under the M.O.R.E Agenda has brought meaningful development to communities across the state, adding that the achievements recorded so far justify a second term for the governor.
He emphasized the importance of unity among party members and stakeholders, urging them to work together to sustain the development momentum and ensure victory for both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori in the next general elections.
Senator Dafinone also commended the National Coordinator of the OSU Political Forum, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata, for his efforts in promoting unity, inclusiveness, and political engagement across the Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie Federal Constituency. He described the forum as a strategic platform for mobilizing grassroots support and strengthening political participation within the constituency.
In his remarks, Hon. Ighrakpata formally inaugurated the executives of the Uvwie Chapter of the OSU Political Forum, led by Anthony Ofoni. He charged the newly inaugurated leadership to remain committed, focused, and proactive in mobilizing support for the President and the Governor ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ighrakpata also commended Governor Oborevwori for his commitment to delivering democratic dividends to the people of Delta State, noting that the governor’s performance and development initiatives have resonated positively across communities.
He expressed confidence that Governor Oborevwori’s scorecard would pave the way for overwhelming support and total victory in 2027, urging party supporters to remain united and committed to the shared political vision.
In his acceptance speech, Anthony Ofoni, Chairman of the newly inaugurated Uvwie Chapter executives, pledged to provide inclusive, transparent, and results-driven leadership. He assured stakeholders that his team would immediately begin grassroots mobilisation across all wards in Uvwie Local Government Area.
Ofoni emphasized that the executives would work closely with community leaders, youth groups, women organizations, and political stakeholders to strengthen party structures and ensure electoral victory for both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.
He further assured that the forum would serve as a bridge between grassroots communities and political leadership, ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of the people are effectively communicated and addressed.
The inauguration ceremony attracted prominent political stakeholders and leaders from across Delta Central, including Efe Uko, Kingsley Esiso, Edafe Emakpor, James Augoye, Perkins Umukoro, and Evelyn Oboro, among others.
Youth groups, women associations, and supporters also attended the event in large numbers, demonstrating strong grassroots enthusiasm and political engagement within the constituency.
The event featured speeches, goodwill messages, and symbolic presentations, as stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening political structures and ensuring electoral success in 2027.
Senator Dafinone reiterated that victory in future elections depends heavily on early preparation and sustained grassroots engagement. He therefore urged the newly inaugurated executives to begin work immediately by building strong networks, engaging communities, and promoting the achievements of both the federal and state governments.
He concluded by encouraging party faithful to remain united, focused, and committed to the shared goal of delivering overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration marked a significant step in strengthening political mobilisation efforts across the Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie Federal Constituency, as stakeholders expressed optimism about the future and pledged to work collectively toward electoral victory.
