Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, has commended former All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta South Senatorial aspirant, Chief Itiako Ikpokpo, popularly known as Malik, for withdrawing from the party’s senatorial primary race in a move aimed at fostering unity within the Isoko political bloc.
Senator Joel-Onowakpo made this known after paying a courtesy visit to Chief Ikpokpo, describing his decision to step down from the race as a mature and selfless sacrifice made in the overall interest of the party and the people of Delta South.
According to the senator, discussions during the meeting centered on the importance of peace, unity and collective strength as the party prepares for future political engagements.
He stressed that Delta South requires a united front to achieve meaningful progress and assured of his commitment to working harmoniously with leaders and stakeholders across the senatorial district.
Joel-Onowakpo also expressed appreciation to Chief Ikpokpo for what he described as his patriotism and brotherly spirit, noting that cooperation and unity among party leaders remained essential to strengthening the APC and advancing development across Delta South.
Chief Ikpokpo’s withdrawal from the APC Delta South Senatorial primary is expected to consolidate support within the Isoko political family and reinforce efforts towards presenting a united front ahead of future political contests.
