A gruesome case of murder and organ trade has shocked the residents of Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, after a 24-year-old pregnant nurse was brutally killed and mutilated by a man identified as Chiemerie Obika Elobisi, who allegedly sold her body parts to native doctors.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed that the body of the victim, whose name was not disclosed, was found dumped in a soakaway pit.
According to police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrest of a female suspect, Somtochukwu Nwafor, has provided disturbing details about the incident.
Nwafor, 24, was arrested on July 25 with the help of Umueri village members. She confessed to being the girlfriend of the prime suspect, Elobisi, who is currently on the run.
She admitted that Elobisi lured the nurse to his house under the pretext of needing medical treatment before killing her in cold blood.
After committing the murder, Elobisi reportedly decapitated the woman and called his girlfriend to help clean up the blood. Nwafor further revealed during interrogation that her boyfriend sold the victim’s body parts to various native doctors in the region.
Following her confession, operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) raided a shrine belonging to one Nwafor Chibunna Ofornwatadile, a native doctor from Itima Amawa Village in Ogbunike.
Human body parts concealed in black nylon bags were recovered during the raid on July 29.
Police say efforts are underway to arrest Elobisi and other suspected collaborators.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, described the act as “inhumane, criminal, and an affront to public morality and the sanctity of life.”
He urged members of the public to volunteer useful information, assuring them of full protection for their identities.
