Hon. Adetola Abubakar Elected Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Succeeds Mayor Dele Osinowo
Agboyi-Ketu, Lagos – In a landmark political transition, Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar, former Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), has been declared the winner of the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chairmanship election under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the official results announced by Mr. Samuel Olusanya, the LASIEC Returning Officer for Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Hon. Abubakar secured a landslide victory with 42,770 votes, defeating her closest rival Mr. Salami Taofeek of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 1,400 votes, and Mr. Shoyemi Tolulope of the Labour Party, who garnered 962 votes.
Her election marks a historic shift in local leadership as she takes over from the outgoing Executive Chairman, Mayor Dele Osinowo, ushering in a new era of continuity and progressive governance in Agboyi-Ketu.
Throughout her campaign, Hon. Abubakar focused on a people-centered agenda prioritizing infrastructure and grassroots development, youth and women empowerment, education, accessible healthcare, food security, job creation, digital governance, and civic engagement.
Mayor Dele Osinowo, who served two terms in office, congratulated Hon. Abubakar on her well-deserved victory. He praised her commitment to public service and expressed confidence in her capacity to continue the developmental strides achieved under his administration.
“Her emergence is a reflection of her hard work, integrity, and strong connection with the people. I have no doubt that Hon. Adetola will build on the foundation we’ve laid and take Agboyi-Ketu to greater heights,” Osinowo stated.
He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Agboyi-Ketu for their unwavering support during his eight-year tenure and urged them to rally behind the new leadership to ensure continued progress and unity in the community.
“It has been an honor to serve. As I hand over the baton, I do so with confidence that our LCDA remains in capable hands. I wish Hon. Adetola a smooth and impactful journey as she assumes office,” he added.
Hon. Abubakar’s victory is seen as a significant milestone for gender inclusion and political leadership in Lagos, as she becomes one of the few women to chair a local council in the state.
Her administration is expected to continue the legacy of excellence while introducing fresh energy and innovation in addressing the needs of the people of Agboyi-Ketu.
